Seven families gathered as one large family Saturday and helped each other through a difficult topic ... childhood cancer.
The organization Leaps of Love brought these families to the Kroc Center to let them know they aren't alone out there.
"I knew I had to find someone that understood me," Leanne Ketchum said.
And that's exactly what Leanne found. Understanding.
The Kroc Center teamed up with Leaps of Love to put on this day long event, offering entertainment to the visiting families.
Sandra Terry and Patty Light are co-directors of Leaps of Love.
Terry says this event brings together these families who feel they are in this fight against cancer all alone.
"When you find out your child was diagnosed with cancer, you feel like you're the only one in the world who has ever had this devastating news, so just to be able to be a family and to also get to meet the other families experiencing the same thing. You can't put a price on it. It's wonderful," Terry said.
Leanne was diagnosed with cancer at a young age.
This event provided her with the fun and togetherness she was looking for.
Leaps of Love is holding its annual Holiday Benefit Auction on November 2nd.
That event will be held on the Mark Twain Riverboat.
