Pike County courthouse and government workers will not go on strike Friday morning.
Twenty employees in the Operating Engineers Local 965 withdrew its intent to strike notice after reaching an agreement with elected officials.
The union and county and county officials agreed to have the contract issue brought before an arbitrator.
The union approved its intent to strike May 8.
The current contract expires Nov. 3. Workers in clerk, supervisor of assessments, state's attorney, treasurer and circuit clerk are asking for an 8.2 percent pay increase over a three-year period.
