Illinois conservation police made 34 arrests on suspicion of drunken boating or driving or drug-related offenses during the Labor Day holiday.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources police also wrote 139 tickets for vehicle offenses, 104 citations for fish and game violations and 58 citations for other offenses at state parks and DNR sites.
Officials on Thursday said there were another 652 warnings written during the holiday enforcement effort. But there were no reported hunting accidents and just two boating accidents handled by conservation police.
DNR law enforcement director Rafael Gutierrez says officials were encouraged that boaters, hunters, people fishing and other park visitors kept safety in mind.
