Flooding was the last thing on some area residents' minds Thursday night at Quincy's riverfront.
Scores of people turned out for a candlelight vigil at Clat Adams Park to remember a life lost too soon.
Pravyn McBride-Meyer, 2, died at St. Louis Children's Hospital on July 2 after being found in an above-ground pool on Monday by a daycare provider on the city's south side.
KHQA spoke with the boy's father and grandfather.
"It's been a rough week," the boy's father, Samuel McBride, said. "It's been very hard."
"We want to thank everyone for coming out and keep praying," the boy's grandfather, Samuel McBride said. "I hope my son gets a lot stronger."
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
handled the funeral arrangements.
Adams County State's Attorney Jon Barnard said charges will not be filed against the daycare provider.
Barnard said his office is treating the drowning as an accident.
