      Community support swells after Mo. abduction tragedy

      People everywhere are showing their love and support for Hailey Owens

      People everywhere are showing their love and support for Hailey Owens and her family after her abduction and murder Tuesday in Springfield, Mo.

      More than 100,000 people have joined the Facebook event called Porch lights for Hailey Owens. Event creators Danielle Nicholl Hathaway and Gayla Wells are encouraging supporters to turn on their porch lights for little Hailey through the night of Saturday, Feb. 22.       Another public event called Remembering Hailey Owens was created on Facebook by Janette Spence. It encourages supporters to light a white candle for Hailey at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22. Click here to join.

      For those located in Springfield, Mo., a candlelight march is being held in memory of Hailey Saturday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. at Commercial and Campbell Streets. Click here to RSVP for the event on Facebook.

      The overwhelming message from community members is that Hailey may have been taken away but she will never be forgotten.
