Combined effort rescues trapped semi driver

It took the combined efforts of the Palmyra Fire Department, the Quincy Fire and Rescue team and Roberts Towing out of Ewing Missouri to rescue a trapped semi truck driver early Tuesday morning.Just before 11:30 Monday night the semi that Verne Daves of New Boston Illinois was driving, overturned on the curve just past the 24/61 split in Missouri, headed toward Quincy.A trooper on the scene told KHQA that it appears as though Daves took the curve too fast.Daves was pinned into the cab of the truck by the guard rail.Emergency crews had to cut away large portions of the semi's cab in order to get him out of the vehicle. While that was being done, a tow truck from Roberts held the semi in place to prevent it from moving during the rescue.Once crews got Daves out he was lifeflighted to Blessing Hospital.
