City of Hannibal/HBPW await court ruling surrounding chloramine ordinance

The city of Hannibal and the Hannibal Board of Public Works are waiting for a ruling surrounding a new city chloramine ordinance.

The board has filed a lawsuit asking for a temporary restraining order to remove chloramines from the city's water treatment process.

The board faces a deadline this month to carry out that ordinance after voters approved Proposition 1 last April.

According to our news gathering partners at the Hannibal Courier-Post, both sides turned out for a hearing this afternoon at the Marion County Courthouse.

A judge has not made a decision yet.

According to the Hannibal Courier-Post, protestors marched in front the Marion County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon with picket signs voicing opposition to the HBPW's lawsuit.
