Parties involved in the case of several Turtle Lake Road residents evicted from their homes continue to negotiate outside of court, according to one attorney involved with the case.
"I do believe we're making some progress with settlement," ReNae Ingram, the attorney representing the evicted residents said.
Bob Spillman and several of his neighbors currently lease the ground they're living on and have built permanent structures including homes and garages over the years. Property owner Cleatis Langan and her family wants them gone.
Attorneys for both parties were in court Wednesday morning. The case was continued as attorneys continue their negotiations. The case is scheduled for a status hearing July 24.
Last November, Langan gave residents 30 days to move out.
Inghram also said the lease terms never defined a length of time the long time residents could live in Turtle Lake. She hopes the issue will be resolved through negotiating a settlement and not reach a point where a judge will decide the final outcome.
