Bushnell man arrested after police find meth, sawed-off shotgun
Thursday evening at 9:15 p.m., a McDonough County Sheriff's Office night patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle at the intersection of Blaine Street and East Hail Street in Bushnell.
Drake L. Taflinger, 21 of Bushnell, was stopped for multiple traffic violations.
During the stop and subsequent investigation, syringes and approximately 3 grams of Methamphetamine were located inside a sunglasses case that Taflinger threw while being stopped.
Shotgun shells were also found on the motorcycle.
A sawed-off 4-10 shotgun was later found by police hidden in a tree at 543 E. Twyman.
Police believe the gun was hidden in the tree by Taflinger prior to the traffic stop.
Taflinger was lodged in the McDonough County Jail charged with Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition by a Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine Under 5 grams, Possession of Hypodermic Syringes and Driving Under the influence of Drugs.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected.
