The Quincy Police Department is currently investigating two recent explosive devices found in Quincy.
One of the devices was detonated prior to Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.
â??While both IEDs were small, they were capable of causing serious harm to anyone near to them at the time of their detonation,â?? a release from the department says.
The first explosive was found in the 1700 block of Jackson Street. A report says that it went off between 2 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday.
The device was made from a CO2 cartridge and a number of BBs wrapped in newspaper and duct tape. The only known damage was to a nearby house.
The second explosive was found in the 2000 block of Hampshire Street. It went off shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday. It was what is commonly known as a soda bomb and did not appear to have any method for discharging shrapnel.
Police are urging anyone who comes in contact with such devices to contact 911. Anyone with information about these two incidents should call QPD at 217-228-4470 or Crime Stoppers at 217-228-4474.
