Blessing Health System is taking on one giant Christmas list this year.
It's provided care baskets for its staff members most in need for the last 29 years. Employees spent a few weeks donating food items and shopping for children of the needy families.
Tuesday, a handful of Blessing staff members and students from St. Peter's School began sorting all the items in boxes customized for each family.
"The recipients of the care baskets are kept completely confidential, so nobody knows who they're shopping for or donating food to. But it's a way of giving back to their co-workers this holiday season," said Kara Wingerter, Blessing's marketing specialist.
Last year, Blessing's staff donated food and gifts to 62 of its families. This year, that number's climbed to 90. The care baskets will be handed out on Friday.
