Arrest made after Nauvoo hotel fire

Terri Elizabeth Gatewood was arrested Wednesday for aggravated arson, a Class X felony

A woman was arrested after a Wednesday morning fire at a Nauvoo hotel.

According to the Nauvoo Police Department, Terri Elizabeth Gatewood, 34, of Nauvoo was arrested after a fire broke out at the Nauvoo Family Inn and Suites.

She was arrested for aggravated arson, a Class X felony.

A Class X felony carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison, up to a $25,000 fine, and a minimum of 3 years probation after release.

Police say Gatewood was an employee at the hotel.

The fire was put out by hotel staff. There were people in the hotel at the time, but there were no injuries.

Gatewood is being held without bond in the Hancock County Jail pending her first court appearance.
