The Quincy City Council will have to vote again on a one year contract agreement with firefighters.
A city ordinance requires a certain vote count, which did not happen Monday night.
Mayor Kyle Moore confirmed that what did happen was a close 6 to 6 vote. Moore cast the tie breaker vote.
The problem is, that vote didn't count.
The council will have to revisit the vote next Monday.
The original vote came after a lengthy executive session.
Moore said he and Fire Chief Joe Henning are focusing on long-term plans for the department.
Moore said he didn't want to agree to a longer deal without knowing how the budget will affect the fire department.
