Agriculture education money available for schools and students

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Program gives farmers in Illinois the opportunity to nominate their local public schools for the chance to win $10,000 and $25,000 grants to enhance their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum.

Now is the time for students to apply and farmers to nominate schools for thousands of dollars of scholarships and grants for agricultural education.

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Program gives farmers in Illinois the opportunity to nominate their local public schools for the chance to win $10,000 and $25,000 grants to enhance their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers involving STEM skills are among the current top growing job fields.

The program will award approximately $2.3 million in 2018 to deserving schools and has awarded more than $14 million to schools in rural America since the program began in 2011.

Illinois farmers can nominate their school district from now through April 2, 2018, by visiting www.GrowRuralEducation.com or by calling 1-877-267-3332 toll-free.

America's Farmers is also offering the Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Program.

Local Illinois students pursuing an education in agriculture-related fields can apply for $1,500 scholarships.

The deadline for students to apply is February 1st.
