Active meth lab found in Pike County apartment

Two people are behind bars facing charges of meth and possession of meth manufacturing materials.

The Pike County Illinois Sheriff's Department conducted a search at the Pittsfield Apartments on Piper Lane Wednesday around 4:15 p.m.

Officers found more than 150 grams of liquid meth and numerous items used to make meth, including salt, drain cleaner, pseudoephedrine pills and lithium batteries.

Police arrested Shelby Burch, 21, of the Rushville/Beardstown area and Colton Spradlin, 19, of Griggsville.

Investigators believe the lab was active at the time of the search and think meth was being made in or around the apartment at least once a week.

Burch and Spradlin are in the Pike County Jail pending court appearances.
