Fort Madison is home to world famous Sheaffer Pen and Museum

Sheaffer Pens have been used throughout history to sign documents abroad and in the U.S., but it all originated in Fort Madison, Iowa.

W.A. Sheaffer started in the jewelry business but started manufacturing pens after designing a successful pen patent.

Now, there is a museum dedicated to Sheaffer Pen history located at 627 Avenue G in Fort Madison.

The museum maintains over 20 different display cases and exhibits of Sheaffer writing instruments and historical memorabilia throughout the facility.

The Sheaffer Pen Museum is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation and is ran by volunteers.

If you would like more information about The Sheaffer Pen Museum you can visit their website at sheafferpenmuseum.org.

The museum hours are Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2p.m.

KHQA would like to thank the Museum Board of Director Bernie McCauley and Judith Burgin for opening the doors of the museum for our crew.
