Work is being done on the 54 mile-long stretch of the Sny Levee Drainage District.
More than one mile of the levee across from Hannibal is being laid with plastic and sand bags.
Historically this has been a problem area on the levee.
At this time everything is fine, with the crest in Hannibal yesterday, the river is expected to fall slowly by next week.
There are no major concerns at thes time, steps are just being taken in case things get worse.
The Pike County sheriffs department along with the department of corrections started working on the levee Tuesday and will finish up Friday.
They will be heading down to the Louisiana area next week to start sand bagging there.
