Recovering after the Hannibal flash flood

      July 2010

It was one year ago that flash flooding hit parts of the Hannibal area when Bear Creek overflowed it's banks.

Some residents on the south side of Hannibal were caught off guard after several inches of rain hit the area and floodwater raced through some of the low lying areas near Warren Barrett Drive and Lindell Avenue.

Now, there is a plan to dredge parts of Bear Creek to possible eliminate some major flooding events.

The plan to dredge the creek and remove debris from the area must still be approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
