Missouri to pay more than $30 million for disaster recovery in 2011

Missouri will have to pay a little more than $36 million is disaster recovery costs in 2011.

That's just a little more than a quarter of the $150 million that

Governor Jay Nixon

set aside for disaster aid in 2011.

That year included the

Joplin tornado

and widespread flooding across the state.

According to Nixon's budget director the rest of the money was rolled into the state's general fund to cover government operations and services.
