Hannibal boil order lifted

Filtration plant supervisor shows just how high the water got on the second floor of plant after overnight flooding.

The boil order previously in effect for Hannibal water customers has been lifted early. It ends at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.

Public Relations Coordinator Kari Goodman from the Hannibal Board of Public Works reports all bacterial testing came back completely free of contaminants and the chlorine levels are consistently above the required threshold of 0.5 mg per liter.

It is now safe for Hannibal BPW water customers to consume and use water as you normally would without boiling beforehand.

A boil order remains in effect for Public Water Supply District #1 customers in Ralls County until 1 p.m. on Friday, June 27.

It is believed that lightning struck a water supply line causing a valve to open and flood the plant.
