Recent flooding issues could pose danger to fresh-water wells.
The Adams County Health Department has free bacteria and nitrate test kits available. Anyone interested can pick them up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the health department building at 330 Vermont Street.
While the kits are free, the individual is responsible for their own overnight shipping to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The city of Quincy also sells the kits for $20. Since the kits can be dropped off to the City of Quincy, no shipping is needed.
For questions on water kits call the Adams County Health Department at 217-222-8440 or the City of Quincy at 217-228-4592.
The McDonough County Health Department also said it will provide assistance to anyone who wants their private well water tested.
