Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help sandbag along the Mississippi River. Water levels are rising quickly.
Bleigh Construction geared up for a river flood fight. Officials established a sandbagging filling station next to Highway 168 and County Road 413 close to the South River Pump House.
Volunteers are also needed to help with with sandbagging in Clarksville, Mo. Volunteers could be needed through at least Friday evening.
AmeriCorps St. Louis and United Way of Greater St. Louis
organized volunteers in Clarksville. They are asking anyone younger than age 18 be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No one younger than 13 is able to volunteer for safety purposes. You can find out more details or

A volunteer reception center is set up at 108 Howard St. in Clarksville.
Guidelines for volunteering:
- Wear closed toe shoes
- Wear rain gear
- Wear warm layers
Items to bring:
- Sturdy work boots or shoes
- Long pants
- Work gloves
- It's recommended that you have an updated tetanus shot
