It's time to make room in your cabinets, refrigerators and freezers, anywhere you can find some extra room in your kitchen, get ready to use it.
The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois officially kicked off its annual cookie sale Friday, January 14th.
This year a new cookie will be on sale.
They're called shout outs, a Belgium-style carmelized cookie.
All the other favorites are back as well and all cookies are going for $3.50 a box.
The majority of the proceeds stay local and help support troop activities and programming.
And for the second year in a row the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois are trying to send a little bit of home over seas to US troops.
"We do a program called Operation Cookie Share. It's our second year for the program. We partner with State Farm and when customers buy a box of cookies for themselves, they also can buy a box or two to send to military troops over seas," said Erica Douglas witht he Girl Scouts of Central Illinois.
Last year more than 85,000 boxes of cookies were sent to US troops stationed over seas.
The sale ends on February 6th and delivery will began in the beginning of March.
If February 6th rolls around and you have not been contacted by a local girl scout, you can contact the local office at 217-222-1030.
