Quincy jewelry designer goes Hollywood

Kharisma Sommers, a self-taught jewelry designer from Indonesia

A local jewelry designer is making a big splash on the national scene.

Kharisma Sommers, a self-taught jewelry designer from Indonesia, was chosen to have her designs featured inside the GBK Luxury Gift Lounge for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

Each of her uniquely designed and created pieces emanates both Eastern and Western cultural influences.

After moving to the United States in 2010, she quickly made her beautiful designs available through Popnicute Artisan Jewelry.

She has always wanted celebrities to wear her designs and now that dream is becoming reality. Kharisma made 100 unique pieces that were placed in "swag bags" and given to celebrities and charities at this year's MTV Movie Awards.

Thanks in part to her involvement with The Artisan Group, Sommers also got the opportunity early in 2012 to send actress Drew Barrymore a piece of her handmade jewelry.

Popnicute was named Favorite Jewelry Artisan in's Reader's Choice Awards in 2011 and her designs were featured in Wire Art Magazine.
