Missouri Lottery to offer self-ban program

If you think you have a gambling problem, The Missouri Lottery is going to let you ban yourself for life.

According to our sister station KRCG in Jefferson City, The Missouri Lottery ban will also block you from redeeming lottery tickets with large payouts.

Those who participate will be prohibited from claiming winnings of $600 or more.

The lottery's executive director tells KRCG the $600 figure was chosen because that's the level at which lottery winnings must be claimed at one of the lottery's regional offices.

In order for the self-ban to be in place, you must sign, notarize, and submit an agreement to The Missouri Lottery.

Officials will keep a database to be checked when someone would like to claim a prize.
