A Quincy theatre is a clean theatre

Members of the Quincy Community Theatre know that the show must go on. And the best way to do that is through organizing what you work with.

Volunteers helped the group during its annual cleanup.

Abby Biswell has been involved in Quincy Community Theatre since first grade.

"Being involved in shows and stuff, you make some of the mess yourself, so it's good to just help out and be helpful," QCT member Biswell said.

Quincy University joined in on the cleaning for it's Freshman Day of Service, a service learning project where the students help out different organizations around Quincy.

"QU heard about it, they needed some service hours. It's a perfect opportunity. These are freshman who haven't even started classes yet, and they are already learning what it is to serve and help non-profit organizations," Managing Artistic Director Lenny Bart said.

One of the freshman involved said this project captured his interest in QCT.

"I really consider coming back and trying out a play because I have done plays before, but also just volunteering here because I kind of like the people a little bit," QU student Patrick Lester said.

The cleanup was wrapped up with a barbecue to thank the volunteers.

QCT is holding a yard sale on Sunday to conclude its weekend cleanup.
