A man convicted of killing and beheading a 3-year-old girl known as "Precious Doe" was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without parole.

Right now the Illinois National Guard's 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of three thousand soldiers is wrapping up training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Officials say that training is always evolving as information is gathered, as does the gear they use to stay safe.

Right now three thousand citizen soldiers from across Illinois, including here in the Tri-States, are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan with the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Of the entire combat team, an increasing number of the soldiers are women.

We hear a lot about the importance of recycling.According to the Environmental Protection Agency, recycling reduces the need for more landfills; prevents pollution; saves energy and decreases greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change.
